opening message on watch

I have to tap my watch now to open a message. Is that an OS 4 thing? I can't figure out how to get messages to open without touching my watch. Thank you, Angie

Read a message. You feel a tap or hear an alert sound when a message arrives—just raise Apple Watch to read it. Turn the Digital Crown to scroll to the bottom of the message.

If the message arrived a while ago, swipe down on the watch face to see the message notification, then tap it. To mark the message as read, scroll down, then tap Dismiss or swipe the message. To dismiss the notification without marking the message as read, press the Digital Crown.

Thank you but what is happening is I only see the senders name on my watch. I have to tap to open and read the message

Think you're having Notification Privacy turns on. Check Notification settings in Watch app on the phone.
