The only way I can open pdf's is from the File Open Menu inside of Adobe. Every time I try to open a document from any way other than from inside Adobe I get this message: "The document “RFI #12 Answer.pdf” could not be opened. Acrobat cannot open files in the “Adobe PDF document” format." Is there a setting that needs to be changed?

Preview works. But before this version of Adobe I used to be able to click on the pdf attachment in mail or any pdf on my desktop and Adobe would start and open the pdf. Now this doesn't work any more.

More background. I was using Acrobat 8 Pro until it updated and quit talking to my scanner. I replaced it with Acrobat 9 Pro and now it talks to my scanner but now I have this issue.
