Opening Photoshop files from Finder freeze

Anyone had this annoying problem? Double click on photoshop file (any type - jpeg, tiff, eps) it opens. I go back to the finder to double click another and I get the clock just sitting there. Have to click the finder/dock/finder to get it to open. This happens to me all the time - I have hundreds of tiff files that I use for my jobs and it can get quite annoying. (Doesn't seem to happen in any other app. I thought this might be a mac finder question, not a photoshop forum question, please excuse me if I am wrong.)
OSX 10.3.3-1.6GHz, 1.25ram - Creative Suite photoshop v8.
