OpenOffice 3.1 Page Defaults Question

I downloaded OpenOffice today and every single time I open up Writer, the page defaults (margins etc.) get set back to the default. How can I make the default myself and keep it that way? Thanks.

Create a new template and set it as default.

• Create a new document, add/modify styles (including page styles, 4th button from the left in the Styles Palette; if you can’t see the Palette, hit F11 to toggle its appearance); change other settings as desired.
• File > Templates > Save
• Give template a name
• Select category in the Categories list (i.e., MyTemplates)
• Click OK to save the template
• Choose File > Templates > Organize
• In Categories list, double-click on MyTemplates folder
• Control-click on the template you want to use; choose “Set as Default Template” from menu
• Click the Close button
