they don't have english version yet. I mean 2.0.3
also, NeoOffice used cocoa, and does not ask for X11

But OpenOffice does have an English version.

And NeoOffice uses Java - which IMO is slower than the X11 guy.

You can also get NeoOffice now....well, you can get the beta for Intel...or is it Alpha.

OpenOffice requires X11.

I think the beta is still a pay only download. Free downloads come at the end of August. Why does everyone hate X11 btw? X11 comes on the OS CDs so it's not like "it requires X11" is a huge deal.

From what I've heard, NeoOffice is being updated to use the Aqua theme. Regardless of whether you're on the Openoffice/Neooffice camp, both must be incredibly fun to work with.

I didn't say I hated X11, did I? Actually, after reinstalling OSX Tiger (I only needed to do it once), I learned that X11 does not come installed on new Intel Macs. Ironically, it's not even included in the Bundled Software stuff.

You just said "it requires X11" as if it were a bad thing. If I said check out homestarrunner.com and you said "it requires flash" that would be almost the same.

X11 is included on the Apple Intel disks - but not under bundled Software. I think under another installer. But yeah, it is a tad geeky program.

It took one extra dock position, HEHE
its ok, i just hoped NeoOffice would be faster since it will be using cocoa widget, but not sure until i try it out at the end of Aug.
Anyway, I got OO 2.0.3 now, and it did asked to use system font. Not bad, so far.

Alright, I did a speed test, and

OpenOffice loads faster than NeoOffice
Program itself has about the same speeds
i am waiting for NeoO 2.0 beta, I know its alpha version slow as hell.

It is included with the software. It's on the OS X install disc. I had to install it to use Gaim. And I have to say, X11 apps don't work quite the way they should. It's hard to explain. Try it and see for yourself.
