M2 MBA on up to date Sequoia...

So, a couple Mac OS updates ago I started having problems accessing my BlueIris camera server that runs on a PC on my network at a static ip address. With the OpenVPN server set up on my router and OpenVPN client on my M2 MBA either connected or disconnected... at home with the MBA on my local network via wifi... I could not reach the server via the web browser interface. The browsers just returned an "site unreachable" error. When travelling off my network and with the OpenVPN client connected everything works fine.

After some experimentation I discovered that while on my local network if I cycled the MBA OVPN client on and then immediately off the browsers (Edge and Chrome) will then find and connect to the server. But after a variable amount of time the connection will drop and the ip address is again unreachable. My workaround is to just cycle the OVPN client over and over as necessary.

Is there a more permanent way to correct this?

BTW, this IS a Mac thing as my Windows notebook has no such issues.

While I don't understand why interacting with OpenVPN matters, I believe I have solved this problem. It turns out there is a setting under "system settings>privacy and security>local network" to allow apps to find devices on the local network, in this case Edge or Chrome. So, I have enabled that. But I don't understand why there are multiple instances of those apps listed there?
