Operation cannot be completed because file in use?

I have read here and there about this error when trying to copy/paste a file. I mostly find people discussing this regarding a file in the trash.

It happens randomly. I am stumped why this occurs and what the solution is.

Quick way to deal with this problem:
1. Log out
2. Log back into your account
3. Try again.

Simply restarting Finder often works. (Command-Opt-Esc to bring up window)
