OPINION needed! itunes on external HD or on internal for college.

okay so im starting college this summer.. i have an itunes library with about 3000 songs on it. FOR college, should i keep my itunes on my laptop, or on an external HD so it frees up room on the actual laptop itself. i know having itunes run off of the external will make it slower but is the tradeoff for space worth it? anything helps. thanks.

It depends how much you care about always having the music with you, and how big a proportion of your laptops drive it takes. I have a small amount of my library on my MacBook Air, a little more on my MacBook, but I only have the whole thing on my Mac Pro, as my library is close to 800GB, so wont actually all fit on any laptop I own.
