IS this HD compatible with the UMB? Its a 640gb drive, and i found it at MacMall for a pretty cheap price. It is refurbished though. Just wanted to know if it was a good deal?

Aren't Caviars 3.5"? If so they won't fit in your MB. You need a 2.5"

It's 3.5" drive and MacBook Pros use 2.5" drives. It's too big. Take a look at Scorpio Blues

I just noticed that. Im now stuck between the WD Scorpio or the Seagate 500gb 7200. I keep reading that the Scorpio is almost as fast as the 7200 drives, but I just dont know which one to go with.

The WD Caviar series are 3.5" (desktop) drives; you need a 2.5" for internal use, or anything that will fit in an external enclosure for an external drive. I have 2 of the WD Caviar green 750GB drives in my Drobo and one of them makes an awful racket (along with 2 other drives). I would not recommend this drive.

I would get Scorpio because with 7200rpm drive, there may be some heat, battery and vibration issues.
