opinion on price of new MPB?

Hey everyone!

Was just wondering if everyone had realistic prediction on what the price of the new mbp's will be?

A lot of people say that the entry level MPB will cost more than what it is now, I personally think the price will come down.

Thoughts?

I think the price will come down on MacBooks, at least the lower end ones, but I think the Pros will remain as is. Either Apple leaves their margins alone, or uses the cut for fancier hardware. Here's my bets:


Low end 15:

15.4in 1440x900 LED display

I don't have concrete ideas, but here are thoughts:

1) The low-end MBP may be dropped to $1799. I read a lot of rumors about that, although it could be about the MacBook models.
2) The CPUs will be slightly faster on each price point.
3) RAM will stay at 2GB standard.
4) Hard drives will get a small boost or nothing at all. There will probably be a SSD BTO option, although I still don't think these are worth the price premium.
5) Displays will probably be exactly the same, except maybe thinner.
6) The graphics card will be a different one. Duh.
7) I'm going out on a limb and guessing they will have a Blu-ray Disc option, both read-only and re-writable. If they don't for such a big event, I will take a dump and name it "Apple Blu-ray policy."

I'm not predicting anything, but am I the only person who thinks 3K is an outrageous amount to spend on a laptop? Unless you're using the thing to make a living, it doesn't seem like it's worth it to me anymore.
