How did you do the conversion to Black and White?

It seems to be lacking depth to me.
 
Personally, I don't find the color image all that appealing. I agree with bousozoku, though... the black and white image seems to lacking "depth." Perhaps you could play around with the color channels a bit, as well with highlights, etc. and see what you come up with. I will say that I find the composition to be interesting :)
