Opinions on Motorola SURFBoard SB5100 Cable Modem?

I have one as well, works good. USB connection to macs is a little troublesome (at least when I tried to get my brother's 15" pb to connect, my ibook uses the router for now [working on the wireless addition]), just use the ethernet port and you'll be happy.

i have heard (from a comcast installer) that the SB5100 is not as reliable as the SB4100.

the comcast installer said that some of the SB5100's are flaky, but the SB4100 are pretty rock solid.

i personally have a SB4100 and in the 5+ years i have had it, it has never given me any problems.


you can get a SB4100 pretty cheap on ebay.

The only reason why I dislike this modemis becuase i use it with comcast. I hate comcast.
