I just got my intel 320 SSD 128GB set up and should be getting in my optibay caddy today so that I can put a WD 500GB HDD in but I have a few questions about file setups.

1. Should I move my entire home folder to the HDD or should I just symlink certain folder, ex. iTunes media? I have read that the OS constantly "looks" in the home folder so then the HDD could never be unmounted or sleep and could possibly make the OS run slower.

2. Since I do not have TRIM enabled is it bad to download files to the SSD? doesn't constant writing make the drive performance reduce with time, would it be better to download to the HDD?

Sym link. It's as simple as wanting to keep your user library on the SSD. since the OS accesses the library often, you'll want to keep it on the SSD for speed purposes.
