So, looking for opinions on these choices. The ones that I am most undecided about are the bag and the wired Mighty Mouse. If you disagree with any of these, let me know something you would recommend. Also, let me know if I have left anything out that is a must to have. Thanks for the help in advance.

Well, I have a smaller version of the porsche drive and I like it.

I would however recommend the apple wireless keyboard (if you have BT) and one of the higher end logitech mice.

Oh, I just noticed it is a macbook pro. I guess the wireless keyboard isn't so necessary then.

What do you plan to do with the display besides use it on the Mac? That would be a big determinant on which one to choose... if you absolutely purely want computer use, the E228 is okay... otherwise, I'd steer clear.

I personally want to stay away from wireless stuff, because I will be away at university and guarantee I will never remember to have batteries lying around for when they die. And I don't think it is worth the extra money for wireless either.

It would be as a dual monitor with the MBP and maybe for my xbox 360 as well.

Speakers are a matter of personal taste, I guess. I personally find the JBL Creatures a bit .. too unprofessional. Quite happy with my Creative Inspire T3030 -- the speakers use standard connectors (unlike most other budget models) so you can swap them with better units later, it looks quite sleek, and the subwoofer is hefty enough to produce good bass.

As for keyboard and mouse, current versions of OS X will happily use a normal PC keyboard, so you don't *really* have to go Apple. I quite like my Happy Hacking Keyboard, and as for mice, the Logitech V270 is economical and, though wireless, the batteries can last forever (I've not recharged mine for at least two months).

I just keep a set of four rechargeable AA batteries in the charging unit, and when my current batch runs out, swap and recharge. Can't get by without a battery charger once you have a digital camera anyway :)

See, I personally love the look of the JBL Creatures. Also, about the keyboard, I know I don't need an Apple keyboard, but I like the look of it and its compactness.

I will also probably look into rechargeable batteries now too.

I thought the same thing, but jeez the batteries seem to last forever on my keyboard. I think they last almost a year and there is a battery status thingy with five bars so you know long before you need to change them.
