Hi guys im kinda torn over with macbook pro to get. I would be getting them from the refurbished apple store. The 2.33 seems to be the oldest of the group but give a 256 mb graphics card. The 2.2 is newer but is slower than the 2.33 but has a new graphics card but its just 128 mb and it comes with an lcd backlit screen. The 2.4 would be 200 dollars more expensive that the other two versions but is faster and the graphics card has 256 mb.

Any opinions are gladly welcomed, im leaning towards the 2.4 15 inch glossy version. Thanks in advance. :)

The 2.33 is not SR while the 2.2 and 2.4 are and have a faster bus. Therefore you can't compare chips speeds (2.33 vs. 2.2/2.4)

Get either the 2.2 or 2.4 since they are a later generation than the 2.33.

go with the 2.4 MBP with the 4MB L2 cache.
try the clearance department as well..
sometimes the difference is just 50 bucks provided you use an educational discount.

if you're willing to pay >$1500 anyway, why not get the 2.4 Penryn through educational discount. it will go down to $1799 plus a $100 rebate for a printer.
that's what i did.

drawback is the 3MB L2 cache

Wouldnt the 2.4 santa rose perform better than the 2.4 penyrn because of the cache. They have the same graphics card the GeForce 8600 GT 256mb right?

define better?:)
it really depends on what you do.. or how hardcore you are.
in general you won't feel it!

but you'll definitely feel the trackpad difference..
the 30 min increase ( apple claims this) in battery life
bigger HD
that's about it
and the lack of remote

**** apple. I'm so pissed they stopped including the remotes. **** apple.

I've always wanted to get a mbp with a remote. Now that I have to pay extra for it no ****ing way. **** you steve jobs you *******.

im basically looking at a mbp for everyday tasks, maybe some light video and photo editing. Nothing really hardcore maybe ripping a dvd. Also it would be nice to play some games on the side. Thats why i was thinking maybe the 2.4 with the 256 mb card might be best. Or should i just go with the 2.2 and 128 mb graphics card and save the 200 for maxing out the ram? My gf has a white macbook but it is constantly getting dirty, thats another reason why im aiming for a mbp. would i even notice the difference between the 2.2 and 2.4 in basic everyday use like word, safari etc?
