Optibay HD used as external - not recognized

I took out my Optibay HD and put it into an external HD enclosure. My computer is now not recognizing the HD. Is there a reason for this? A formatting issue? Even with Disk Utility open, it's not recognized.

Can you see the external device in your System Information?
I'm assuming that the external would be connected through USB.
Check under both the Storage, and USB tabs.
You should see the enclosure, and partitions on the drive, under the USB tab.
The device is sometimes difficult to determine, but usually will be the manufacturer's info on the USB bus.
Click on that, and partitions should be listed in the info window.

Or, the Storage tab should show the name of your hard drive, too. Click on that name to show more info...
