Just bought an early 2011 13.3 in macbook pro and i planning on adding an m4 SSD. i read something recently that the optical port on older macbooks is 3 gb/s not 6 gb/s. Wanted to double check this. Anywhere to find that info?

You can find it in SYSTEM INFORMATION under Serial-ATA. and yes the 2011 Models only have SATAII (3.0GB/s) in the Optibay.

I highly recommend installing the SSD in the main HDD bay which is SATA III (6.0 GB/s) and installing the factory/stock HDD in the Optibay.
