Optical Audio Gone ?

Been a week since i upgraded the SuperDrive for a Mushkin Callisto 120Gb + Newmodeus caddy.After a fresh install the optical audio is just gone.It does the exact same thing as before as in the volume controls lock up and the red light does come on.Tried reinstalling OS X but still no fix for it.

Any ideas on the problem?
