I still work a lot with MiniDiscs, I love the format and use them for multiple uses.
I'd love to make it work with my PowerMac G4 Sawtooth, but the only way I'd be able to use it, is over analog audio connections. This is rather unpractical, since that means digital audio is converted to analog, then back to digital, which adds audio degradation. Maybe very little, but still. Is there some PCI sound card with Optical In and Out (I need both, and Coax will only allow me to go from the Mac to the MD deck and not back), that works with Mac OS X 10.4? The generic cards you can get nowadays probably won't work, I need something timeperiod correct that works with Mac, and doesn't break the bank. This is all hobby stuff, and I really want to keep things fun (read: affordable). If you know of any PCI solution that will work for what I want, I'd love to hear it.
