I have a Macbook Pro that is about a year and a half old. I rarely ever use the disc drive, so this may have been a longstanding problem that I have only just noticed.
I was trying to burn a cd and each time when my computer was finalizing the burn it would pop up with an error that said "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The burn failed because of a medium write error" so I googled the problem and the most practical fix sounded like I should buy an Optical Disc drive cleaner so I did that.
Every time I put the disc in my computer makes some whirring noises and eventually ejects it. The disc does not appear on my desktop or anything.

I'm looking for a fairly simple fix that won't involve me replacing my optical drive, or buying an external one, any ideas? I figure that the problem is dirt in the drive, but with my drive not picking up on a cleaning disc I have no idea what to do next.
