Optical Drive Noise... Why so frequent?

Ok, so just after I updated to Mavericks my MacBook has been making that optical drive (at least that's what I think it's from) noise every time I connect it to the charger, disconnect it from the charger, wake it up from sleep, and occasionally put it to sleep.

How normal is this to happen so frequently? Is there a way I can fix it? Thank you for your help!

Reviving this thread. I was hoping someone would chime in here because I'm having similar issues, if you can call it that. My MacBook, before Mavericks, would only make the optical drive noise on boot up. After Mavericks it makes the noise when disconnecting charger and waking from sleep. Any ideas? Thanks
