Hello,

I searched the MacRumors forum and the Apple Support forums but I still couldn't find the answer to my question.

I've had my 17" MBP for a week now, when I first got the notebook, the optical drive never made a sound during boot up. But after a week the optical drive makes a noice (I know this is normal), but I want to know WHY NOW? Why didn't it make the noise when I first received the MBP?

I don't think anything is wrong with my optical drive because it works and I searched the forums saying every MBP does this. I even tried to reset the optical drive. But why does it make the noise after a week of owning it? I just want a straight answer.

Thanks in advance.

maybe you didn't notice it?

does it every time to check for a disk

I must be going crazy then... I'm sure I would have noticed if it made a noise from the get go. I have a SSD and when I first got the MBP, I would try to listen to any noises coming from the machine. And the optical drive makes a loud enough noise to be noticed.

Anyone else want to comment on this?
