Hi all, I have a PowerBook G4 that is having a wonky optical drive. It works for everything - CD's, movies, data I've burned, burning new data, etc - though it does occasionally spin the disc very loudly, such as when Spotlight is running.

However, a friend gave me a dual layer RW DVD that he burned of some movies we took of us doing stupid stuff in college, and the optical drive won't take it. I put it in, the drive makes a lot of funky noises for a good 15-25 seconds, then spits the DVD out. It never even shows up in Finder.

I've tried restarting and repairing permissions, but it still won't work. It does everything else, though. I even burned and tried to read some other burned discs afterwards to make sure.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone.
