Optical Out and Headphones

I finally got my PMG5 hooked up to my receiver with an optical cable, and it works great. My only question though, is when I plug in headphones to the front jack, it doesn't disable the optical out, so I still get sound on my receiver. Not only that, it will enable the internal speaker when I unplug the headphones, which really sounds bad. Is there a way to make it disable optical when I plug in headphones, and reenable it when I unplug them while leaving the internal speaker off? Thanks
