Recently picked up a home theater receiver with plans of using the optical out on my macbook and macmini for surround with my ripped dvd collection. However, for normal use it seems like the optical out "goes to sleep" and doesn't wake up immediately making for chopping songs and other general use. Google found some very old posts around the web suggesting the only cure was a usb sound card. Anyone else have this issue with more recent macbook?
