Optical out on a MBA?

hello

just bought the Harman Kardon Nova speakers

truly amazing

it has BT, jack and an optical in port

i was wondering if instead of plugging the jack or using BT, i could enjoy the optical port of my speakers with a specific cable plugged to my 2014 MBA ?

The MBA does not have an optical audio output built in, at least according to Apple's technical specs of the MBA. They list the iMac having an optical audio outport, thus they would, if the MBA had one.

Maybe you can use one of the available USB or TB audio breakout boxes available?

with Mac specs changing all the time, i was a bit confused because i thought that recent MBP/MBA had such port


would you recommend me any usb device to provide this component ?
