Optical output is on, when it shouldn't be

MY optical output (red light) is on, and it shouldn't be. Anyone know how to turn it off so i can use my speakers??

Have you tried sticking a plug in the jack and wiggling it? Sometimes the contacts get stuck or bent.

It comes from the headphone jack. It should automatically sense what output mode it should be using, but it occasionally gets stuck with the optical on...that's the red light you'd see.
