Optical Zoom?

Is there any chance we'll ever see an iPhone with an optical zoom lens? I'm not asking for much, but, maybe 2x would suffice for clearer photos at a distance.

Samsung used to make a phone sold through Sprint with a tiny 2x lens, so I'm sure it is possible.

It's just another component that they would have to fit in the slim design of the phone. Not to mention they wouldn't be able to incorporate it into the iPod touch which would probably make some people feel slighted. I would love to see something in the 3x area of zoom, but I don't see how it could be done without having some bulging part of the phone which would never fit into their design standards.
