optimal ram installation ?

i search this topic but found a bunch of conflicting threads

I have 4 x 2gb and 2 x 1 gb

Whats the best way to install this?

Top riser: 2GB , 2GB
Bottom riser: 2GB, 2GB, 1GB, 1GB ?



OR


TopRiser: 2GB, 2GB, 1GB
Bottom: 2GB, 2GB , 1GB

it should be

top riser : 1gb,1gb,2gb,2gb
bottom,2gb,2gb

or i guess it wouldnt matter if it went

The documentation with the computer explains it. I think the two versions of the Mac Pro are different, which has been leading to a ton of confusion.

That's what you want. You get the quad-channel, insignificant-unless-you-need-that-sort-of-thing speed boost.

Really, though, you want the four 2GB sticks in the first two slots on each riser and the 1GB sticks on the last two on Riser A.
