sorry if this is in the wrong section first of all, but im ripping some dvds, mine of corse, on my macbook pro (see signature for details) and i was wondering what are the best settings for 1080p hd video, size doesnt matter i just want the best quality. if you could explain, or post a screen shot or youtube link that would be great. i also dont care how long it takes, i just want the best quality possible
 
Just to clarify, as it isn't clear in your OP, video DVDs store their footage in SD (720 x 576 for PAL, 720 x 480 for NTSC), so up-converting it to HD (720p or 1080i/p) is unnecessary.

As far as I know, the Apple TV preset is commonly recommended for simple use. Maybe MRoogle will give you more information, though the maybe is just out of necessity put at the beginning of this sentence.
