Hi All

Me again with more dumb questions.

I have decided (probably) to base my data storage on 4x500Gb drives. Two configured as RAID 0 and two to hold overnight backups. I already have 1 LaCie with firewire 400 and 800 plus USB, so I plan to buy an additional 3 identical drives. This gives me a very simple modular system.

For my 2-disk RAID0, the simplest configuration would be to dasiy chain them, firewire 400 to my mac and 800 between the drives.

What sort of read/write performance can I then expect from the array compared to a simple single drive ?

Would I expect improved performance if I did something like connect one via USB and 1 via firewire ?

I will need to access this composite drive from multiple different macs (12" G4, 17" G4, mac mini, Macbook) am I right to assume this will not be a problem? Can I just connect-up and expect it to be seen as a single drive regardless of how the connection is made - ie daisy chained and into USB, daisy chained and into firewire, spearately into fw and USB etc etc?

Thanks
