Mine stopped working after the update too. I've also been traveling a lot so it's not working anymore 
now that makes sense.since youre traveling a lot and your charging times change thus making optimized battery charging "not work".Mine stopped working after the update too. I've also been traveling a lot so it's not working anymore

I wish Apple could have us implement a feature where you can Toggle On and Off when it reaches 80% or possibly set up a charging time manually.
when im too lazy to look at the % but need fast charge i usually turn optimized battery charging off but use a digital socket timer.
What does your phone say in the Battery Health section? It may be busy with the recalibration process of the Health feature.
On my 11 Pro Max it temporarily switched off Optimized Charging while the recalibration process of the Batteru Health took place and then when the process ended it went back to doing Optimized Charging.
The recalibration thing is only for iPhone 11 and 11 Pro.
so optimized is switched on here as usual
Oh yes this is true, my apologies. Very odd that it turned off for you, have you changed anything about your charging habits?
My 11 Pro has been doing the calibration thing for weeks and optimized charging still works.
It's been working flawlessly for last couple of updates.. It's about time because it was very hit or miss for most of it's implementation. I second the option to enable it during a scheduled time frame.

Nothing, no traveling, same sleep patterns. And same happened to my partner’s iPhone 12. It just stopped working. I’ve tried disabling it for a day, then enabling it again, then waiting 5-7 days- still nothing
Do you guys have purple or grey arrow near System Customization under Privacy Settings ?
Remembering that after iOS 14.3 or 14.4 (I don't remember), you no longer need to leave "System Customization" and "Important Locations" enabled to run Optimized Charging. Optimized charging of my iPhone 12 Pro Max was working perfectly without these options enabled, but it stopped working on iOS 14.5.1.
with all the hoopla they make about Machine Learning in their new chips and AI, they can't manage to turn the battery charger off at 80%.
Optimized battery charging has been a ********ty marketing feature from the beginning. The only way it would make a significant improvement to battery health would be to NEVER charge above 70-80%. Waiting a few hours to go from 80 to 100% is pointless.
It’s a useless feature because Apple still wants people to dish out money for a battery replacement.
Only way to fix this rubbish, is if apple allows us to set a time that we want the phone to be fully charged by.
Until then I won't bother with this garbage.

My OBC stopped working with iOS 14.5 .
3 nights ago it kicked in again and worked at it used to.
Last night and just now when I picked up my phone to see it it was working , I saw the notification and it immediately disappeared !!! .. the phone was 80% then and continued charging after that .
Has anyone else seen this ?

my iPhone 12 Pro optimised charging appears to have stopped with 14.5.1 and since then my battery health capacity has dropped to 98%. I tend to have a consistent schedule and I charge overnight topped up with in car charging when I am driving. This is so annoying Apple!!!!!!!!
