My friend was just told at Best Buy they they could run a program on a MacBook if he bought it that would make it run 4 times faster than it does out of the box. The guy told him that he couldn't buy the program but for an extra $40 he would have the geek squad run it on his computer. Has anyone heard of a program that increases the speed that much?

He thought it sounded strange as did I. He didn't get it but was just wondering if such a program existed.

from working at circuit city and knowing what best buy does...that "optimizer" thing that the employee was talking about is meant for windows machines, because of all the bloatware that comes on the computer when you buy it from the store. what they do is basically just uninstall all of that bloatware so there isnt any excess crap that you dont need...hence the computer running faster

this isnt needed for macs, cuz there isnt any bloatware
