The size of my Macbook's screen is perhaps the main reason I want to get a new computer.

At work, I'm spoiled with a big 1920x1080 widescreen monitor, but when I'm at home, my Macbook's 1280x800 doesn't compare.

Can anyone recommend any space saving apps, or other ways to customise, that make better use of the small screen?

Do you happen to have an external monitor anywhere? That's the only alternative I can think of.

•Auto-hide the dock.

•Use Google Chrome, as it has the smallest toolbar, thus maximises the space for your webpages.

•Use Lion's full-screen feature whenever possible.
