When I go to the text tab under 'language & text' in system preferences, there is nowhere that says 'correct spelling automatically' (I've seen this option shown with a little box next to it where you can uncheck it so that programs will not correct spelling automatically....but not on my mac).
I think it shows everything else that there is supposed to be there on mine such as the 'symbol and text substitution chart' and Spelling, Word Break, and Smart Quotes options to the right, but there is no line above those that says 'Correct spelling automatically' with a box next to it. I wanted to be able to uncheck this option because when I use TextEdit, I find it annoying that it automatically corrects the spelling (and I don't really like this for any program so it'd be best if there was a way to just shut it off for everything). Is there another place that this option could be on mine?
