My 13 inch M2 Air frequently charges only to 80% because it is usually plugged in on the desk, but when I want to take it out with me, it would be nice to have it charged all the way. The option to force that to happen seems to be gone for me since updating to Sonoma.

Having 20 percent of the batteries capacity empty because "Apple thinks it knows best" and there being no obvious way to disable it (I've tried to do so within the battery settings but it just reactivates) is infuriating, and I don't always have access to a socket to charge when I'm not at home>

Is anyone else experiencing this, and is there a way to actually deactivate the Optimised battery thing completely and forever?

For now, consider turning off Optimized Battery Charging since having 100% battery when you leave the house is a priority. Apple is readying macOS 14.1 so lets hope that feature returns this week or next. In the meantime, lets leave some feedback: https://www.apple.com/feedback/macos.html
