Options on a Mac Pro

Okay, I'm ready to retire my G4 (Dual 1.25)...

Here are my options, and yes, I need some advice.

1. Original Mac Pro 2.66 (2x Dual Core) refurb @ 1699.00
2. Current Mac Pro @ 2.66 (1x Quad Core) refurb @ 2149.00
3. Current Mac Pro @ 2.66 (1x Quad Core) Education @ 2299.00

So, which route should I go, this will mainly be iTunes, Gaming and Final Cut Studio...

I'll be tossing in 1.5 TB drives as I can, and running the new 24" displays via DVI converter box if I have to. (Yes they're two options on the horizon for that).

So I welcome all the input I can-

The original MP would be a good deal because you can upgrade the processors to 8-core Clovertown 5300-series processors, but that may negate the price difference. The Nehalem refurb would be the best one, and you can upgrade the processor in that one too, if you wish. According to EveryMac.com, you should be VERY careful if you upgrade them, as any mistake may damage the logic board, costing thousands to repair. If you can, keep your G4 powermac (is it the last ever PM G4 model?), and use it as a server, or upgrade its processors.

Definitely option 2 or 3, they will be a league ahead of option 1!

Thanks for the replies! You have convinced me- I'm shooting for the current, either refurb, or education discount, which ever is readily available!
