iPad options to protect (case) a new ipad air keeping as slim as possible ?

i dont want to cover it at all !! i want to keep it as close to 1lb as possible. what are my options to prevent dings ? im going to be transfporting it in train/motorcycle/and car to university. i never drop my gear but i do sometimes bump into doors and desks because of the rush people create. anyway how do u guys protect an ipad to keep it as safe but SLIM as possible ! ty
