Optoma Projector + Macbook = My Head Hurts

Friends,

I'm trying to get this projector to work with my macbook, using the USB cable - as I do not have an adapter for the VGA or other settings - and have met nothing but TOTAL FAIL.

I've tried to mess around with the display in system preferences, disconnecting and reconnecting the cable, however it doesn't recognize the projector. Also, when I plug in the USB cord a message comes up asking if it is a keyboard.

At any rate, I've hit a wall. Perhaps it is not even possible to use just a USB connection.

I appreciate any advice or assistance!

You don't mention which Optoma projector you're using. It makes a difference since only the 102 can use USB for data transfer and for video. The other two apparently only do composite in.
