Order on Apple.com

Here's my situation...
I'm not upgrade eligible till next year. My dad is eligible but doesn't need iPhone 4. If I order on Apple.com, when I get the iPhone, do I just enter my phone # in iTunes to activate it to my number? We are on a family plan btw..
