I'm worried about waiting at the Apple store and then not even getting a phone. Can I order online at 12:01 PT, and then buy one anyway from the Apple store, and return my online order?

(I'm buying a full price unlocked Verizon, if that matters.) And no this isn't rude or screwing other people, the next person in line would get my returned, or better yet cancelled, order.

My main concern is - will I be able to buy "another" one at the Apple Store?

I don't think anyone really knows for sure.

I saw this image in the 5c order thread, and it says the phone is not eligible for cancellation. Maybe the 5s will be the same for online orders.

This is most likely because the item is "Preparing for Shipment". This means it's too late to cancel the order and it's too early to return it.

You should be able to return it after it's delivered.

If I buy full price, and from Apple, there is just no possible way it would not be returnable.

The biggest worry is that when I get to the Apple store somehow I wouldn't be able to buy the phone because the line already bought a new one, or something like that. Or that they aren't selling full price phones on launch.

I was JUST thinking of this exact same thing.

Can you call and cancel after you've ordered?

Additionally, I suppose you could return the phone once received?

I'm also buying a full price Verizon 32GB white 5S.

Pretty sure that what "not eligible to cancel or return" means....

What I meant is that there won't be much time in between the placement of the order and the "Preparing for Shipment" status.

In other words, there will not be much time after placing the online order to find one in a store and still have time to cancel.

You can't cancel once it's preparing for shipment, but you can return once delivered.
