To make a long story short, they aren't allowing lines at the Apple location I am going to. So... I am planning on just ordering the phone online, but still going to the store to try and snag the thing. Question is, would sometimes between 8-10am (EST) be too late to cancel my order? I have never ordered anything through Apple.com, so I just don't know.

I would like to know this as well!

If you're using an upgrade, this strategy could pose a problem.

Which is why I am asking. :)

Really, I want to surprise my wife. She has never gotten the phone on launch day and is dying for the gold one. Thiswill be the first year I don't get the iPhone at launch. Well, not true, I got the 5 in December as I was test driving the Lumia 920.

From what I understand, it takes about 24-72 hours to get your upgrade eligibility back if you cancel an order. I hope I'm wrong, but you'll have to make a choice.

Hmmm... shouldn't that be only after it has shipped? My understanding was that they don't process any of that until it ships (and then they run your card, process the upgrade, etc). Is this not accurate?

I know you are correct about needing to wait 24 hours after a phone is returned to get your upgrade back (although they have the power to do it right away), but I am not sure if a canceled order is treated the same way in the system as a returned order?

Does anyone remember when we're charged? Shouldn't be until later in the day on Friday, right?

I've been in like since 11:30PM but might also order one online due to shortage rumors. I have two upgrades to burn, but can't afford to be charged twice.

it is charged when it ships. You may experience debit holds though.

You are a keeper! Lucky wife :)

Well, so far a whole lot of "i don't knows", and some people who think I am an okay husband. :p

18 minutes away from go time. Decisions... decisions.

I was going to do the same thing... but... idk. I really hope the shipping times are good

Hi,

I hope this helps. Last Friday I ordered 5C, then canceled and reordered. My upgrade was availabale again within a couple of hours after I canceled (why I was able to reorder). The charge on my debit card went through a day or two ago, and phone should be delivered today.

Your wife will be so happy for her new phone!
