Can't wait! I'm also waiting for a 19" Dell Ultrasharp to come, but it's been backordered for a little while.
 
Congragulations on your purchase. I recently decided to buy a new PowerMac G5 and am patiently (not really :rolleyes: ) waiting for it to to arrive.

Patience is a needed quality with Apple. Congratulations on your purchase also. When are you expecting delivery?

You guys who buy this, what do you mainly use the PM for?
 
I bought the PMac because other Apple computers are way too slow for me....then again XP needs all the speed it can get and then some, but the dual 2Ghz is my bare minimum for an Apple, and I got it because I decided against the dual 2.3 for money reasons (although I could have purchased it had I wanted to).

As for delivery, no clue as this is the Memorial Day Weekend and Apple has (obviously) closed their factories until the 31st. Oh well, I really am anxious to get it though!

Thank You. Hoping for it to be delivered by the end of this week. Apple says it is supposed to ship on or before 6/02.

Patience, ok, I'll give it a try...nope, not working. ;)

in no particular order-
1) Games
2) iTunes
3) would like to get into Photoshop once I get a new SLR digital camera.
4) Mac OS X 10.4 (of course)
5) Microsoft Office
6) Internet (mainly Macrumors :D )
 
I'm sure you're having a great Memorial Day weekend refreshing
the Fed Ex tracker! :D

I had my 2.0 delivered to my office and they were all blown away by how huge and heavy the box was.

59 lbs. of sheer speed metal....
and a bunch of styrofoam.

That´s unfair!

I have a dSLR, Nikon D70 with pro lenses! I´m going to use Tiger, Office and the Internet...

Well....if I get the eMac or the mini as our second computer, I could convince my finance manager (the wife) to buy the Playstation 3 when it arrives. :D

Sounds good. Although I am currently an Xbox fan- but that could change :eek: .
 
While its great that you got a new PowerMac (I'm jealous, trust me), which is a great purchase and a very fast machine, of course, I wonder why you did it before WWDC? I'm sure nothing PM related will come out, but its one of those "you never know" type of situations where you....just....never.....know.

Well to be honest I just could not wait any longer. Plus, I figured that since the PowerMac G5s were just updated that it would be a good time to switch to Mac. I really do not think that we will see any new PowerMacs at WWDC anyway.
 
Update on order - Mac shipped, arriving the 7th (estimated by FedEx).
Update on 19" UltraSharp - delayed again *groan*

Thats ironic, my PowerMac G5 is also supposed to arrive the 7th via FedEx.

They also bumped my ATI Radeon 9600 128MB DDR video card up to a ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB DDR at no cost to me :confused: :D ! I am glad for the uprade but I was planning on throwing either a ATI Radeon X800XT 256MB DDR or an ATI Radeon 9800SE Pro w/256MB DDR into my G5.

That's ironic... MY PowerMac G5/2.0 is ALSO arriving on the 7th. And I found a 9800 SE 256 for $220 to go with it. WOW! I also got 2 gigs of RAM (2x1gig) for $160ish. And I got a smoking deal on a 19" CRT and a Klipsch GMX d-5.1. This will be a great setup. I'm writhing in anticipation... :)

I think it's the way they list the specs when you BTO the machine. Mine is the same way, it said 9600 128MB when I clicked "order" but on the invoice it lists a 9600 XT 128MB.
 
Well, I have been using my new PowerMac G5 for 2 days now and I LOVE IT!!! My only regret is not switching sooner. :rolleyes: Why did I ever put up with Windows? Anyhow, great Mac, plays Doom III and Rise of Nations fine. Can't wait to order a new 20" Cinema Display to replace my 19" Trinitron monitor. Can not go wrong with a PowerMac G5!
