It seems like I have heard others having issues after ordering from AT&T. Randomly canceling their order or other issues. You may give a call to make sure everything is ok. I've never dealt with AT&T when buying the actual phone. I just use them for my cell service.
I ordered a black 16GB from Verizon on the 22nd and today it left Memphis. Expected ship by date was 10/19 but it should arrive on Friday the 12th.
Ordered from Apple Store UK on 9/21. First expected delivery date 22-26th October, just changed to 16 Oct, 2012 - 22 Oct, 2012! 
I just got mine out of Back-Ordered. Basically that means that they have your phone. I just wonder when they are going to ship it. Hopefully the next business day. :S
