Hello everyone am new to the forum. I just ordered The MacBook Pro M4 16” nano texture 1 TB 24 RAM. Should i have waited for the new M5 macbook pro? I am worried that with all the tariffs talk and chance of Apple products going up at least 10% or more i my not be able to afford a M5 MacBook Pro in the future. What are your thoughts and opinions be much appreciated.
Thank you

Will a 10% price increase really make this unaffordable to you or are you just falling for the hype on TV? Don’t buy something just because of hype. If you need a MacBook now buy a MacBook now. If you don’t need one now, don’t buy it just because some person on TV said the price is going to go up next year. That’s the absolute worst reason to buy a MacBook or anything. These people don’t know and they’re just saying these things.

I mean, it’s a great computer, but just don’t spend that much money without a real reason

Somehow, Apple managed to *reduce* the price of the MacBook Air with the M4's that they just launched. I don't think the price going up in response to tariffs is a guarantee. (They also are probably thinking about shifting manufacturing out of China, to Vietnam or something.)

That said. If you need one now, get one now. M5 generation is likely to be yet another incremental improvement; rumors are pointing to a chassis refresh (likely with OLED display) not happening until late 2026 (M6 gen) at the earliest.

I was gonna Wait myself But when I tried the M4 Pro with 14 Cores, and 20GPU Cores this runs Resident Evil 4 Remastered Better than the PS5 with Ray Tracing.
THEN I read the Display on the New M4 MacBook Pro was upgraded To Quantumn Dot and the color vibrancy and pixel response times were improved.

I personally plan to SKIP the 2025 M5 Until the 2026 M6 and Tandem-OLED MacBook Pro arrives.

That is good to hear. I just ordered the MacBook Pro 16” Silver i had to go with 24 GB instead of the 48 GB the cost was way too much. I upgraded instead to the 1 TB storage, i hope that is enough for the future tasks with 24 GB memory. I don’t do any 4k editing and photoshop or final pro tasks hopefully ill be okay with my MacBook Pro for yrs to come.

Yeah like others have said, the rumors so far have pointed to the M5 being a small update with the more significant update likely coming in 2026 with an OLED display update. The M4 MacBook has gotten strong reviews, especially with the base model being upgraded with the mini-LED display and ProMotion now. If you need a MacBook, now would be the time to get one and you will likely be very happy with your 16" one you ordered!
