I ordered two Macbook Pros on Amazon (sold and shipped by Amazon, not a 3rd party seller). They were shipped in two separate packages and unfortunately only one arrived and they were "delivered" four hours apart for some reason. I suspect one was taken from my apartment lobby or I guess it may be lost. But either way, per Amazon's request I've opened a police report and pending an investigation should hopefully get a new one shipped. Will also ask my mailroom to review their security video.

Does anyone know if Amazon records the serial number and automatically reports it to Apple as stolen? I'd like to make sure it is reported so that if it was taken, it cant be used. If they don't, I definitely will.

...unless reporting it as stolen to Apple doesnt really do much...(hoping it does!)

Amazon used to require a signature for anything this expensive. Wonder if their shippers don't offer that right now.

In Canada at least, none of the couriers are making you sign for delivery regardless of the package saying so. I had a MacBook Pro delivered on Tuesday the 14th and they didn't even ask for ID or sign. Sucks that happened to you. Report it to the police and Amazon. Good luck and hopefully it goes well for you.

I am currently having trouble with Amazon in regards to a 16" MacBook Pro I bought off them. When I got it the packaging was slightly different to Apple's. There was no "pull tag" on the wrapping. In the end after contacting Amazon they admitted that it was a refurbished MBP which I thought was unbelievable (it was listed as new and they are still selling as new). They said to return it for a refund.

I returned the MBP on 30th March and have still not received an email saying they have received it or a refund. After contacting them about this yesterday they said they'd look into it. I returned it with Amazon's own return code and have the receipt as proof of posting and am now waiting for them to reply.

I'm in the UK. I don't know what's going on with Amazon but their customer service has gone down hill. Its also harder together in touch with them. Anyone else noticed this?

Amazon is slammed shipping rolls of toilet paper, cans of vegeatables and all manner of things people would normally get at the corner store. And has worker walkouts here in the US.

Maybe they had someone new package your goods (they are adding 100,000 new people here in US) and the bin said macbook 16, so that was good enough.

Here in the US the delivery times are way out. From overnight to a week or two on anything is not a household good or PPE to a hospital or doctor.

I work for an Amazon undisclosed department until last November when my own business went skyrocket through the roof. I own a business that helps online retailers minimize shipping fraud and loss. Amazon work with their name brand vendors very closely. The thief that stole your MacBook is ****ed soon or later. Just a matter of time. However amazon members who pulls the DNA (Did not arrive) scam on amazon over $500. 75% will go to jail for grand theft, grand larceny, mail fraud, and conspiracy. 25% are customers that really got their package stolen.
I find your way of asking this question odd. I hope I’ve answered your question.

I'll make sure to DNA for $499.00 then. Thanks!

Had the same problem about a month ago. Returned an unused (but unpacked) MBP 16" and it took amazon 3 weeks to refund me (after sending it back). Had to contact them via chat multiple times, every time I was told that the package arrived and that they will definitely process the refund now. After 2-3 days nothing happening I contacted them again and so on...

I'm in the UK and I've had no trouble at all getting in touch via their live chat. I'm always connected with a human within a minute. I've had a few problems recently, but not with their customer service which has been as good as ever. They've given me compensation for a delayed order, and sent out a replacement for an item that was allegedly delivered through my letterbox which I didn't receive. No questions asked.

The problem is, every amazon order I've had over the last 2 months has not required a signature, regardless of value. Heck, I had an order worth £400 just left on my driveway while I was out.

In that situation, it's hard to see amazon winning the argument. Would the police/a court accept that I was responsible for the loss of a package that was left in plain view on my driveway? I think not.

There is a Amazon department in the NSA. They have drones watching every delivery over $500.00

Facts.

I think neither the police nor a court would care.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Honestly I would order from Apple directly and definitely not a laptop from Amazon.

Slightly off topic, but very good point. I’m from the UK, and I wouldn’t buy a Mac (or any other expensive Apple product) from a retailer that isn’t Apple themselves or John Lewis, no matter how much cheaper it is. For example, my 2015 MBP, which I bought from John Lewis in 2017, broke down a few months ago and was out of warranty. Thankfully, I was covered by Consumer Law which John Lewis happily obliged to and refunded me a hefty chunk of what I paid for the MBP. Goodness knows how Amazon, or another retailer, would have dealt with it.

Regardless, I feel for you, OP. I can’t imagine the hassle you’ll be going through to get this sorted.
