So i already ordered (and is now shipped) a refurb 2.2/4gig/750gig/1gig graphics for $1899, but now am thinking I would rather have the 8 gigs and high res...

THe difference is actually $430 plus tax, which is a lot...

Few questions:

1) If I decide to BTO then do I have to wait for this other computer to be delivered first then return it? And I guess I have to ship it back and not take it to an Apple Store right?

2) Could I just order an 8 gig kit and replace the ram myself? Is it really only $89 from crucial for 8 gigs? man I haven't bought ram for a while...

Thanks guys,

P.S
After typing this out, seems like I will be paying $400 for hi-res... kinda dumb (assuming the ram really is that cheap).

Correct, you would have to ship it back if the purchase was made online. As for the ram! I spied them on NewEgg's for $74.99, Crucial brand a few weeks back. They often go on sale as well.

They are there now, but the pricing doesn't make sense:

$350 for hi res?

$350 for hi res?

actually you are paying 350 more for a hi-res ANTIGLARE and the 2.3GHz i7 instead of 2.2.
no noticeable performance difference between 2.2 and 2.3, at least thats what people have been saying.
its 150 for the hi-res antiglare, and 200 for the 2.3 CPU

ha I missed that, thanks... ya, doubt I would notice the 2.3.

I think i should just wait til next week for back to school and LION. I just ordered the return labels.

They didn't tell me there was a restocking fee, so does that mean there isn't, or do I have to comb the fine print?

My refurb came today, i ordered the return labels, but haven't sent back yet.

I ordered my new: 2.2/750/4/HighRes which was $2139 after EDU discount today.

I debated between this and the $2249 2.3 REFURB
Decided that the .1 wasn't worth it for me and I want the box etc for resale...

I used the $110 to buy an 8gig pack of Ram to install when the new one gets here!

Hahaha, man, you would think this is my first Mac, now looking at what I have done I can see that I have paid $300 for Hi-RES...

$2,145.87 for refurbed

$2,446.17 for exact same computer (new & Hi-RES).

I haven't send the old one back and the new one has shipped... why is this so hard?

I should probably keep the refurb, was just kinda excited about Hi Res, but maybe what I don't know wont' kill me?

ya saw that after I copied and pasted...

So I ended up sending back the refurb and ordered the new one with edu discount... hopefully this one ships as fast as the refurb...
