Let's actually get to whether or not this is possible.
Would a 256gb SSD chip have the same mount points as the 128gb SSD chip? Assuming you can unsurface mount the 128gb and resurface the 256gb chip, would you need additional low-level drivers to control the extra space? Or do you think the iOS kernel is smart enough to know the extra size?

There's no Apple "built on obsolescence" any more than any other electronic device, computer, etc. And what has this got to do with someone thinking they can get Apple to custom build them an iPhone?Forget about the iPhone and go with another make that offers SD cards. It is sad that the iPhone doesn't support additional storage but hey, Apple has a market model with built in obsolescence so...sorry folks..it ain't in the cards.
