I am making the switch from PC/windows to Apple/OSX and I have also finally decided to organize my music library.

I think I need some help!

Can anyone recommend a good program to use outside of itunes? My collection is from years of downloading non-itunes music and ripping CD's from years ago. I dont listen to new music so all my music is at least 10 years old.

The reason I have the desire to organize everything instead of just dropping my folder into itunes is because i am somehow losing +200 files that way and it is driving me crazy.

I am dealing with about 4500 songs. Some are in folders, some have track #'s, some have artist/song/album in the name. Its a mess.

After I drag and drop my main music folder into the itunes library, it says that I have 4200 songs in it.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
