Is there a way in the iPhone 13 Pro Max iOS 15.3.1 photos app library to filter out photos that are already in an album? I have lots of photos that are not in albums and would like a way to see only photos that are not in an album so I can organize them. I think this has been a long-standing issue and if it is still not resolved, what are some other photo sorting options? Thanks!

I don’t think there is unless you have a Mac. I’m guessing the reasoning is that the pictures don’t actual move into an album. The album points to the photo in the library so you don’t have multiple copies of the same photo.

That's correct. Basically, albums are 'shortcuts' to pictures in the camera roll. Apple could make it so that photos MOVE into a photo album, but they won't.

Something that can only be accomplished with a jailbreak.

That’s the Achilles heal of iOS photos app. There’s no way (and never has been a way) to identify if a photo in the main library is in any albums.
It’s a horrible design and it’s been like that since forever.

Every time my camera roll gets to around 300 photos/videos, I airdrop them to my MacBook, and organize them into titled sub folders within a single main folder. When I sync back to my phone, they are placed perfectly into albums (the right way) and I delete my camera roll. I’ve been doing it this way for years and have over 23,000 photos/videos stored locally in 96 folders. It’s a little tedious but everything is backed up, I don’t rely on the cloud, and I can find what I want in seconds.
